I've been using this camera for about 9 months now and are not very happy with it because it is full of faults. Bought it from Global media pro, and their service was excellent, all arrived quick without issue.

As for the camera... Firstly, the view finder and LCD screen are not good resolution so its pretty much impossible to get a really sharp and sure focus. The image stabilizer is virtually useless, contrary to what JVC publishes about it in the PR. I notice no appreciable improvement in image stability if it is on or off, and that has been the case since I purchased it new. The audio control ring for each channel are so small and closely recessed to the body that they are impossible to move without stopping filming and trying hard to rotate them. I also don't think the audio monitor gives a realistic measure of the actual audio strength. After my first assignment with the camera some dust had gotten inside the front lens element. It cost $200 to have removed. The technician said that the lens is designed without a proper seal. The camera has very poor wide angle lens coverage, and the mounting screw if you choose to buy the very expensive wide adapter coincidentally offered by JVC, has to mount onto a very weak plastic mounting ring, which is not really strong enough to support it. Then there is the low light issue. This camera is practically useless in anything less than full sunlight, and that includes late afternoon shooting. If you use the camera without good daylight you will need a camera light. The only way to get by is to jack-up the gain and suffer heaps of grain and loss of resolution. It is a useless camera for indoor shooting like weddings or functions without very strong artificial light. The image quality in good light is very sharp and color is also good, but the camera is very bad in high contrast condition where full summer sun is lighting the scene, it does not have the ability to cover much contrast in exposure. I recommend doing your research if you are looking for a small HD camera with manual controls and choose another brand, this one is seriously lacking in LCD and viewfinder resolution, audio controls, non-existent image stabilizer shocking low light ability. If all those thing were not a problem, yes it would be a good camera...

This camcorder is designed for everyday use.
This camcorder is designed for professional use.
That means, it is solidly construced and there are a lot of buttons for immediate access to manual functions without running through the menu.

I am not a professional user, not even an ambitioned amateur.
But the jvc 150 offers everything, I ever wanted about a camcorder.
Did I mention, there is also a fine automatic mode?

I used to work with the HM-100 and the few improvements on the HM-150 look good and usefull . I hope this one will do to me the same usage as the old one .

I'm not a professional, but rather an advanced amateur, grown out my previous camcorder, which was Panasonic SD5. For quite a long time in my plans was the HM100, and I'm happy that I was procrastinating until the HM150 came out. Though similar on appearance to its predecessor, in terms of usability the camera has been improved a lot in almost every area - from the menu structure to buttons placement, to iris control, to memory cards handling etc. Though not as huge improvement in terms of video quality from my previous camera, this one gives me the smooth and fast workflow for Final Cut Pro X, which essentially is the main reason I chose it over other currently available prosumer cameras. Overall I'm very happy with this little toy.

As for Globalmediapro - I can only say that their service was excellent. I ordered the camera on Monday, and on Tuesday next week received it in Luxembourg. I was able to follow the parcel all the way from Singapore. If not for delayed flight, I would have received it even faster.
