camera was there within a few days. it's a good camera which makes nice pictures, good in darkness also but you need a powerful computer and appropriate editing software to handle the avchd codec. sound recording levels are only manual (which can be a problem to some people...)

Right tool for the job!

The HPX2100 is the most bang for the buck that you could wish for. Excelent picture quality, especialy when shooting AVC INTRA 100. Low light performance is great, saving my clients between 30 and 50% on lighting costs. P2 is the solution I dreamed of 15 years ago!

Great Camera

I own this camera and use it for multicam broadcasting & contract production in Australia. Fantastic camera with amazing flexibility. Got all the features to turn this into a full studio broadcast camera.
I didnt purchase from GMP due to the complexity of accessories needed though will purchase my second from here.

What can I say that hasn't been said? One of the best fullframe cameras for everybody excep professionals (they would use D3s or larger format). I've tested quite a few Canons but none of them was so easy to use or so customisable then D700. Since it's sensor is not so packed with pixels it delivers great ISO performance and dynamic range. Camera is fast, very tough and works with virtually all Nikon lens. It really pays when you dedicate time to set it exactly to your needs since it offers a lot of options plus it has one of the best 51point autofocus mechanism; Canon put only and old 19 point one in it's 5D mark 2. The only thing D700 lacks is video, but no DSLR has produced a sufficient video system yet and if you don't need it - D700 is the way to go.

Who's afraid of the dark?

This lens certainly isn't since it boasts huge 1,4 aperture. AF-S is way better than any previous 50mm 1,4 since the ergonomics have been updated - meaning you can override autofocus at any time since the focus ring never rotates like it does on previous lens. Optically it's also great and sharp (when used properly) but not really much different then other Nikons 50mm's (so they've been great all along). It's also quite light and small and it doesn't tear up your pocket when you carry it around like other pro zooms do. It has some distortion but it doesn't really matter since you dont shoot architecture with this lens and some chromatic aberration when it's wide open. If I had to choose one lens, this would be it since it's the most versatile and operates in the most broad set of conditions, delivering great result.

Probably best lens ever

Probably the best and most useful wide angle lens you can get. For Canon 16-35 L II is also this good. You get a nice wide field on fullframe cameras, housing is built like a tank and focus/zoom rings feel superb. It just gets little soft in the corners at f/2,8 but that really doesn't matter since all wide zooms are this way and when you use 2,8 it won't really show since it would be dark. This lens is sharp (if used properly) and gives great result, I'm glad I've bought it.

Image Quality Poor

Using this screen up against the 3 x 5.6"'s this one falls way short. The screen build quality is fine, but the quality of image is very poor.

I thought of using this item as my main preview monitor for live shoots, but it just doesn't do it any justice at all.

I would not buy this again.

And after a Year??????

The Battery runs a PDW700 for about a year then with no warning and almost 14 months old all 6 of my Batts died within a week of each other. Sony don't care about this there warranty is only 1 year. $4000. worth of batteries now worthless.

ZP-1 Sony Better than Expected

Have used the ZP-1 for just over 2 years, both indoor and out and found the pictures excellent using the automatic setting. The low light performance was outstanding in every case. And the colours very true when used to copy 8mm and 16mm films projected on screen. The swing out monitor LCD is actually visible in all but very bright sunlight. In co production with another operator using much more expensive gear, it was not possible in the final edit to be sure which camera was used for shots.

BIG HELP FOR EX3

I recently bought the FGM-EX1 Gold Mount to attach to my EX3 camcorder. I had to make up a bracket to fit it, and it worked great. The camera is now balanced over my shoulder the way it should be, and I can now make use of the D tap for lighting. It also allowed me to shoot all day and night on the one battery. The cable running into the camcorder could not be better, as it locks in. The power running from the battery to the camcorder is native. Meaning that the voltage is not 12V, it shows up on screen showing exactly how much charge is left in your battery just like full size cameras do. Because of the extra weight, the camcorder now operates much better on tripod. This is a must have peice to have.

I bought these batts and they are great, they are very light and they
last a very very long time in my mixer (almost a week). Mine have had
good life from the very first time I charged them. I use them with a swit
302 charger with no problems. They are now are 2.5 years old and have the
same performance as when new. I can't recomend them enough..and they are
cheap! even better.

Have used my fair share of cameras over the years and for price these
were incredible in their quality and sturdiness.....heavier than they
claim though so beware anyone buying them for use on Glidecam or

I've produced my first movie and the camera works really well. I haven't
yet tried all the manual functions, but looking forward to do so. The
buttons, the weight, the lcd screen, the viewer - they all work very well
for me. When dragging the files to my mac - I tend to think back when I
had to play all movies through in order to rip them from the camera. It's
history - and I like it! To all you people out there with a mac wondering
if you should buy one of these - do it! It's great.

This tripod is easy to handle, even though it's big. The camera slips on
really well, the feet are stable and the head gives the stability you
need. Easy knobs to fasten the head in the different positions. I am
really satisfied.
